TOUR BY MINISTERS
VISIT TO WEST COAST PREPARATIONS FOR WELCOME fBY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION*] WEST POUT, Saturday A public meeting held Inst night made elaborate arrangements for welcoming the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. R. Somple, and the Minister of Mines, the Hon. P. C. Webb, in Westport on Wednesday. It was decided to hold a general holiday to enable as many as possible to attend the ceremony of turning the first sod to commemorate the renewal of work on tho Buller Gorge railway. Other functions will include a public procession, a luncheon to the Ministers by the local bodies, finishing with a grand ball in the evening. The Public Works Department is boing deluged with applications for work on tho railway, but it is intended first to utilise what local labour is available.
