CATHOLIC CHARITY BALL

A PICTURESQUE SCENE The Bay of Plenty Winter Sliow buildings presented a brilliant spectacle on the occasion of a grand charity ball held by the Catholics of Whakatane. The large hall and supper room were artistically decorated with palms, streamers, Chinese lanterns and early spring flowers. Dancing conditions were excellent and the orchestra rendered a spirited dance programme. Mr. L. Bridger, assisted by Mr. L. Grose, was in cilarge of the floor. Supper was served b.v the ladies' committee, comprising Mrs. E. W. Beckett, Mrs. W. Free, Mrs. S. Bishop and Mrs. K. Morpeth, Mrs. L. W. Sisain acted as hostess for .the evening and wore a lrock of black georgette and lace. Those present included: —Mrs. T. J. Cummings, who wore a frock of black satin beaute and black lace; Mrs. L.
