CASES OF DIPHTHERIA
FAMILY FROM SWANSON NO SIGN OF AN EPIDEMIC Five people suffering from diphtheria, a mother and four children, residents of Swanson, were brought to the Auckland Hospital in a St John ambulance on Saturday morning. All were reported .yesterday to be in a satisfactory condition. The children are aged 11, eight, six and four years. "These nro the mouths in which we expect to have diphtheria reported, but it is much less prevalent at present than it was at the corresponding time last year," said an officer of the Health Department yesterday. There had been occasional cases in the Ellerslie and Avondale districts in the last fenmonths, but there was nothing approaching an epidemic. The city was fortunate to be so free of the complaint this year. The patients admitted on Saturday were the only cases reported from Swanson, ho added.
