AUCKLAND COMPETITIONS COURSES IN GOOD ORDER FINE rounds at middlemore Local courses wore in good order during the week-end when competitions ,voro continued l\v the various clubs. The scoring in the four-ball bogey at jliddlemoro was surprisingly good and a number of players were responsible for splendid rounds. W. A. Donald had the best round of the day, a 7.'!, and he ivns ably assisted by his partner, I. C. Horton. However, their card of G up was not pood enough to win as J. W. Gunn and K. }leK. AY i I son and 11. D. Horton and P. A. Nathan returned scores of r up. Horton had a fine round of 75 and on the count-back he and Nathan were the winners. The qualifying round for the Coltman Cup at Akarnna attracted a largo entry and L. L. Caslnuore played well to lead the field. .T. Swanson bad the best gross score of the day and ho was followed by C. N. .Tacobsen. The third of four medal rounds for the vice-president's trophy was played at North Shore. D. T. Mningav retains his place in the lead. H. E. Goodwin improved his position and A. T. Buxton is still within striking distance of the leaders. The second round of the C. J. Schnauer Cup was played _at One Tree Hill and by returning a 67 net, M. T. Wilson equalled the previous week's winning score. F. ,A. Aldred was next and then followed C. F. Roffer and C. Jarnian. A concession of half a stroke enabled ft. Davis and'l)r. Horton to win the Canadian foursome medal handicap at Glendowie. The runners-up were J. Stedman and F. Lintott. A start was made with the Hawes Cup competition at Pupuko and a medal round was played in conjunction. The medal event was won by J. Armstrong after a tie with J. Mason, each player returning a card of (56 net.
