WILLING EXCHANGES

PONSONBY'S COLOURS LOWERED . There was a large attendance to witness the meeting of Metro-College nnrl Ponsonhv at Western Springs. Ponsonhv was without the services of Innes and Smith, while Cleal was absent from the Metro-College team. The game was fast from the outset and the exchanges were very willing at times, with Metro-Col lege definitely in the ascendancy. Metro-College fullv des'orved its two-goal lead at the interval. A fust, pace was maintained in the second half although tho football was more rugged than spectacular, A missed penalty proved costly to Ponsonby in tho closing stages, but MetroCollege fully deserved its advantage of one goal at the finish. Oavan gave a sterling exhibition in the Metro-College goal, saving a number of shots from closo range, while Speed and llolmnn provided a solid defenco. Cronin, the cent rehalf, broke up many attacks and cleared the ball niceiy. Jones was sound at righthalf, but a number of his forward passes went astray. J. Diillimore combined well with P. Ifolman on the left wing. The latter's centres were not square enough anil gave the forwards littlo chance. C. Flyger was always forceful and Burton swung over many good centres. McCallum made the openings for C. and A. Flyger, both of whom wore always dangerous. As a combination, however, tho front line was not impressive Fraser faced a difficult task in the L'onsonby goal, but ho acquitted himself well. The score against Ponsonby would have been larger but for the excellent display of llaggott at fullback. Sims, who gave fine support in tho first half, later changed places with Jones at right-half. Chapman showed up in constructive movements, while Jones got in Rome deft touches. Masters had a hard wing to hold, but he broke up many j attacks with resolute tackling. Caisfey and McFarlane, on the right wing, were respon*

sihlo for tlio greater part of Ponsonby's aggression. Mulliolland worked hard, but received little suiii'ort from Mullane. Coals were scored for the winners by A. Flyger and C. Fl.vuer, ami Caislcy Bcorcd I'onsonby'B goal. Mr. G. Sliand was referee.
