FRUIT EXPORT PRICES
REQUEST FOR GUARANTEE HAWKE'S BAY DECISION [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] HASTINGS, Saturday The Hawke's Bay Friutgrowers' Provincial Conference resolved t.bat the attention of the Government should be drawn to the critical position of the fruitgrowing industry, more especially in regard to the very low returns received from apples and pears on the export market, and that the Government should be asked to introduce a system of guaranteed prices for the export of fruit such as will ensure a living wage to the producer. The opinion was expressed that some form of assistance to the fruit industry was essential until a price guarantee was instituted.
