DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY
FORMER AUCKLAND STUDENT SUCCESSFUL STUDIES AT ROIW [from our own correspondent] CAMBRIDGE. Sunday The Rev. Noel Gascoigne, who in 19& was chosen from all the students ot the archdiocese to. proceed to Rome to study philosophy, has gained the degree of Doctor of Philosophy after passing the necessary examinations at the Angelico College at Rome. He is a bod of Mrs. M. E. J. Gascoigne, and the late Mr. Gascoigne, of Cambridge, and is only 25 years of age. He intends to spend the coming year in England, studying English educational systems in colleges and universities. Dr. Gascoigne was educated at the Cambridge Primary School and the Cambridge and Hamilton High Schools He had the distinction of gaining the highest ma't'ks in New Zealand for. the senior national scholarship. He as awarded a University Entrance ship, and attended the Auckla ". University. Later lie continued studies for the priesthood at Holy Cros. Co liege, Mosgiei.
