TWO PORTRAITS IN OILS ONE FOR NATIONAL GALLERY fBY TELECRAPri —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Sunday Honour is to be done Sir James Allen shortly by the presentation of his portrait in oils to the National Art Gallery, Wellington, and of a second similar one to hi. 1 } home city of Dunedin. One portrait was completed last month and the second is well advanced. The artist in both cases is Mr. Archibald F. Nicoll. of Christchurch. Arrangements are in train to have the portrait formally presented to the trustees of the National Art Gallery by the Hon. W. Downie Stewart, on behalf of a number of typically representative citizens and organisations. This ceremony will take place on July 28, when the Prime Minister, Mr. Savage, who is chairman of the board, will accept the portrait, which will then be hung in the National Art Gallerv in time for the official opening on August 4. The presentation of the second portrait to Dunedin will be made later.
