PRESBYTERIAN ACTIVITIES MOVEMENTS OF STAFF Staff matters were dealt with by the missions committee of the Presbyterian Church a.t its recent meeting. The question of a successor to the present superintendent of missions, the Rev. G. Budd, who was appointed until the end of next year, was considered, and a committee, with Mr. H. B. Burnett as chairman, was set up to inquire into the position and report. Reference was made to the missionary conference to be held in the East during 1938, and it was suggested that Mr. Budd would bo a suitable delegate. It was reported that Dr. O. L. Eaton, who has been accepted for hospital work in China, will leave for the field in October. Dr. Kathleen Pih, a graduate of the New Zealand University, who has been at work in the Kong Chuen Hospital, near Canton, is pursuing her studies in ophthalmic surgery in London and has passed a prelimmarj' examination. A medical man for the Kong Chuen Hospital is still required by the committee. A new edition of the hymn book in the Ngunese language has been brought out by the Rov.-: VV. V. Milne, of Nguna, Jsew Hebrides, and is being printed in Auckland. From the Punjab, India, it was reported that two boys who have gone through the Kharar Boys' High School have been accepted by the local presbytery as students of theology to be ministers to their own people. The Rev. Jubal-ud-Din has been given a seat on the council of the Punjab Mission, with full voting powers. After nearly 22 years of service Sister Jessie, of Opotiki, has retired from active mission work and for a time will do special itinerant work.
