DEALER'S OFFENCES
TWO BREACHES ADMITTED "I am nob like other men; 1 nm n little hit straight," said . Norman Knight, who was charged in the Magistrate's Court yesterday with two breaches oi' the Second-hand Dealers' Act. "Your actions suggest that you are a little hit crooked," replied the magistrate, Mr. YV. K. McKean. Defendant admitted charges of failing to lix numbers to goods and of failing to allow a constable to inspect his books, it was stated that when approached by a constable and a detective, who desired to inspect; his buying boohs, he refused and threatened to throw them out of the shop. Defendant explained that his secondband business was secondary to his work of repairing bicycles. Most of his customers were on sustenance. "I live to help and not for gain," he said. "You don't live to help when you are required to do so by law," replied the magistrate, imposing fines of £2 on the first charge and fc.'i on the second, with costs of 10s in each case.
