FALSE PRETENCES CHARGES "You will get no further chances," said Mr. W. 11. McKean, S.M., to James Jx>onard Thurfow, canvasser, aged 22, who appeared for sentence in the Police Court yesterday on four charges of false pretences. It was stated that Thurlow had obtained sums totalling 15s Gil by falsely representing that his motor-car had run out of benzine, lie was at present under (he supervision of the probation officer. Accused was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence within 12 months if called upon. Charged with being found without lawful excuse on premises at 7(5 Nymonds Street, Stanley William Hamilton, aged 29, clerk (Mr. Ilryce Hart), was remanded until Friday on bail of £SO. Senior-Detective Hall said accused had been seen the previous night to enter several premises and in one or two cases he was seen to come out with his boots in liis hands.
