UNLAWFUL LOTTERY
PRIVATE GAIN ALLEGED [from our own correspondent] MORKINSVILLE, Friday A fine of £2 and costs was imposed by Mr. S. L. Paterson, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court, on Joseph Brankin, who pleaded guilty to a charge of unlawfully establishing a lottery by which a prize, a cake, was disposed of by the drawing of a numbered ticket. It was stated that the lottery was not for any institution, but was alleged to be for private gain.
