HEREFORD CHAMPION 650 GUINEAS IN ENGLAND IMPORTATION TO GISBORNE [by TKT.KC It Al'H —OWN CO UK ICS I'ONI) ISN'T] MOHHINSVI iiLK, Friday The English champion Hereford hull Flashlight, which is on its way to New Zealand to the order of Hutchinson Brothers, of Waihuka, Gishorne, will cost well into four figures in New Zea land currency hy the time it reaches its new home. The figure paid at the .English Herd Book Society's Show was 6">o guineas in sterling. A previous importation for the Wailluka Stud, Pauntou James, was also a champion and cost more than 1000 guineas hy the time it reached Gishorne. The next highest bidder for Mashlight at the auction was an Argentine buyer, hut when Hutchinson Brothers gave instructions for the purchase of the best hull obtainable, regardless of price, the Argentine bidder ceased activities. Flashlight was selected by Mr. Craig Tanner, who owns one ot the best Hereford herds in England, and who has judged at many of the most important stud shows in North and South America and England.
