BOROUGH ESTIMATES
OPOTIKI RATE LEVIED [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] OPOTIKI, Wednesday Estimates for the year were further considered at a special meeting of the Opotiki Borough Council last night. Tho town clerk, Mr. W. H. Briggs. expressed the opinion that the meeting was informal. At the May meeting the council had expressed confidence in the Finance Committee by accepting its recommendations," and the estimates had been published. He had no figures available, other than those placed before the Finance Committee and open to all councillors. Mr. H. M. Budd moved that a rate of sixpence be levied. Mr. J. J. Moody moved as an amendment that the rate should not be struck nt that meeting. The amendment was lost, and the motion carried.
