ENFORCING BY-LAWS
DUTIES OF BOARD'S STAFF DISCUSSION AT ELLERSLIE Objections to permanent employees being called upon to report breaches of by-laws were voiced by Mr. A. H. McIntyre at a meeting of the Ellerslie Town Board last night. In a discussion on the use of vehicles over footpaths, it was suggested that the board's staff be instructed to report breaches, and Mr. Mclntvre said it would place the ordinary staff in a wrong light. The chairman, Mr. H. J. White, said any officer of the board could be called upon to assist in enforcing the by-laws. In the case of local body inspectors, no one would suggest that they were doing other than their duty. It was in the board's Jurisdiction to delegate additional duties to any employee. Mr. Mclntyre said he would record his protest against any such proposals.
