THE AGE OF RETIREMENT
"Why a local body officer has to retire at the age of 65 years, I cannot understand; at 65 a man has reached that stage when he is of most use to his local body," said the chairman of the Napier Harbour Board, Mr. T. M. Geddis, speaking at a presentation ceremony for Mr. John Dick, retiring town clerk of Napier. "It seems to be to be an anomaly. It is not a principle that is applied in private business."
