OBITUARY

MR. EDWARD L. DARLEY The death occurred yesterday of Mr. Edward Lucas Parley, of Remuera. Mr. Darley, who was 67 years of age, was born in Greytown and later moved to Masterton, where he joined the staff of the Wairarnpa Star. After completing his apprenticeship he worked on the staffs of many New Zealand newspapers, and at one time published at Masterton a Maori newspaper owned hy Tai-te-Tau, then head of the Wairarapa Maoris. Later he was farming in the Forty-Mile Bush, but after som* years took over the management of the Paliiatua Herald, which he controlled until he retired to live in Auckland m 1918. Mr. Darley was keenly interested in Rugby and racing. Ho is survived by his wifo, formerly Miss Alice Grace Martin, and three sons. MR. A. A. VINSON A well-known Auckland builder, MrArthur Alfred Vinson, formerly or Mangatarata, died recently at the ape of 69 years. Mr. Vinson, who was born in Kent, England, came to the Dominion with his parents at the age of l-l years, and for many years carried on business as a builder in the city. In 1916 he took up a block of 'and on the Hauraki Plains. He returned to live in Auckland a year ago. Two of Mr. Vinson's sons were killed in the Groat War.
