SUBSIDISED WORK TO END Regarding the suggested Dominion awards for outside staffs of local bodies, the .Onehu'nga Borough Council last night decided to adhere to a previous resolution approving of a Dominion award for the general outside staffs of local bodies and favouring the formation of a Dominion union for clerical workers of local bodies. The schedule of a drivers' award, as submitted by tho Auckland and Suburban Local Bodies' Association, was approved. It was decided to dispense with all subsidised workers as from July 15. Tho Mayor, Mr. J. Park, said that owing to restricted finance tho council was reluctantly compelled to take this stop. Mr. A. A. C'oates pointed out that whereas tho original agreement was for only three months, the council had continued the scheme for 15 months. Tho Auckland Hospital Board notified that the levy for the curreut financial year had been assessed at £3417, an increase of £251 on last year's levy.
