THREE HOURS' STRIKE

WOOLWICH ARSENAL DISPUTE SOON SETTLED LONDON, July 3 Britain's first stay-in strike occurred to-day and lasted for three hours when 260 workers at Woolwich Arsenal ceased work at mid-day and locked the doors of one of the largest shops producing bullets and shells. Stewards representing the men conferred with the department superintendent, who agreed that their grievances would receive a thorough investigation. Work was then resumed.

The chief point of the dispute related to the system of fixing payment for piece work. The strikers' representatives state that there is no bitterness. The affair is settled and it is certain that there will be no trouble for a long time.
