KING'S CORONATION
NEW FORM OF CEREMONY PROMINENCE FOR DOMINIONS (Received July 5, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, July 4 For the first time in history the Dominions will take a significant part in a coronation when King Edward VIII. is crowned in May, 1937. Canada, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand will be given positions in the ceremonies, emphasising their new importance as self-governing nations under the Statute of Westminster, under which the King is not only ruler of the Empire as a whole, but is separately and distinctly King of Canada, Australia, South Africa and New iSeaJand. The coronation ceremony will underline this conception of the King, whose crowning in this new form may be a prelude to a later Royal tour of the Dominions.
A Privy Council Committee, consisting of 42 members, including the Duke of York, the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Archbishop of York, the Duke of Norfolk, Cabinet Ministers, leaders of the Opposition, also i\lr. Lloycf George and Mr. \\ inston Churchill, any five to form a quorum, has been appointed to consider preparations for the coronation. Matters connected with the ceremony were discussed by this committee and the King in Buckingham Palace yesterday. ■
