OTAHUHU CALEDONIANS
FIRST ANNUAL REUNION The first annual reunion of the Otahuhu Caledonian Society was held in the public hall, Otahuhu, on Saturday night, when over 200 members and friends assembled. Visitors were present from neighbouring kindred societies, the official guests being Mr. I). McLaren, president of tho Auckland St. Andrew's Society; Aft\ J. H. Preston, chief of the Onchunga Caledonian Society; Mr. W. D. Fulton, chief of the Sandringham Society, and Mr. R. MacLeod, president of the Franklin Burns Club. They were piped to tho stage by Mr. R. A. Archibald and a welcome was extended by the chief. Mr. J. M. Deas.
A lengthy programme was enjoyed, the items being interspersed with dancing. Vocal solos were contributed bv Mrs. A. Rattray and Mr. W. Gemmell, who also rendered duets; exhibitions of Highland and tap dancing by Miss Gwen McNaughton and a talk 011 " Scottish Regiments" by Mr. J. Harrison-Lee. An original Scottish comedy sketch, entitled "Bringing Up Jamie," was presented by Miss Cassie Cook and Messrs. R. Allan and Deas. Tho accompaniments were played by Mrs. A. McPherson and Mr. W. M. Beck The piping accompaniments were played by Mr. R. Archibald. Dance music was provided by the society's orchestra of seven players under the direction of Mrs. Clark. A number of old Scottish dances wero also enjoyed, the piping being played by Mr. J. Cowper. Supper was served under the direction of the ladies' committee, assisted by members of the society. Mr. Preston returned thanks on behalf of the visitors and referred to tho increasing interest in the affairs of Scottish societies.
