PAKURANGA HUNT

MEET AT PAPATOETOE Members of the Hunt Club who attended the meet at Kelly's Corner, Papatoctoo, on Saturday, had a disappointing day. Scent was patchy on account of several showers, and the only two hares that were put up failed to keep to the pood country. Although conditions improved toward the end of the day, no hares could bo found. Hounds threw off on Mr. S. Fergusons property and worked through to Mr. T. Muir's farm, whero a hare was put up. She circled round Mr. A. Swafficld's property and then turned and went across tho boundary road, running through the properties of Colonel It. NVyman, Mr. P. Wyman and Mr. J Death. After crossing the boundary road again, the haro ran into some gardens. Hounds hunted her out of thero, and she crossed Punui Road to Mr. Muirs property again. Then she went over tho Great South Road into barred country, but hounds still stuck to their quarry and hunted back again, only to lose her in the gardens. The hunt Clion passed into tho property of Mr. F. Waters, and another hare was put up. She crossed tho boundary road and ran up the hill on Mr. A. Swaffield's farm, and after coming out on to the Ridge Road, finished up on Mr. J. Brodie's property, llounds hunted her out, and she finally took refuge in a patch of gorse 011 Mr. Swaffield's property. Six other properties were worked without success. Among the hunt followers were Her Excellency Viscountess Galway, who was mounted on Safe Conveyance, and her three daughters, the Hon. Marv Monckton, on Tony; the Hon. C'elia, on Beauty; and the Hon. Isabel, on Hobby. Sir Standish O'Grady Roche, A.D.C., was mounted on Tom Thumb. Other followers were:—Tho master, Mr. 11. Bullock-Webster, on Tally Ho; the field master, Commander 1).
