FROZEN AND CHILLED PRICES AT SMITHFIELD RISE IN CHILLED BEEF (Received July 5, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, July 4 Following are the latest quotations for frozen and chilled'meat, with those of the previous week for comparison:—

EWE TRADE SLOW FAIR DEMAND FOR LAMBS Tho following cablegrams regarding the Sinithfield meat market have been received:—

New Zealand Meat Producers' Board. —Lambs: The market is steady, with a fair demand, but second quality have : eased slightly. Mutton: Prices are un- | changed. Wethers are meeting with a fair demand. The ewe trade is slow. Beef: Frozen beef prices are easier in view of increased supplies. Chilled beef has a better trade, with improved prices. New Zealand porkers: The market is quiet but steady. Now Zealand baconers: The market is steady and unchanged. Bank of New Zealand. Wethers: Demand and prices are steady. Ewes: 'lrade is slow. Lambs: There is a fair demand. Prices are expected to bo maintained. GOLD AND SILVER QUOTATIONS IN LONDON (Received July 5, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON', July 4 Fine gold is quoted to-day at £6 19s O.Jd an oz., compared with £6 18s lid yesterday and £G 19s Id on Thursday. Silver was quoted yesterday at 19gd an oz. spot, and 19 7-1 Gd forward, compared with 19Jd and 19 9-lGd on Thursday.
