WEDDING

LAWFORD—HORTON

A PICTURESQUE GROUP

A wedding of , interest to friends in many parts of the Dominion was celebrated yesterday . afternoon in St. Mary's Pro-Cathedral,- Parnell, when Miss Audrey Chishohn Horton, only daughter of Mrs. M. Horton, of Westbourne Road, Remuera, was married to Mr. Denis Lawford, younger son of Mrs. Lawford and the late Mr. C. E. Lawford, of Remuera lload. The church had been charmingly decorated with clusters of arum lilies, sprays of flowering manuka and variegated koromiko, grouped above the chancel steps and around the pillars, and each of the pews was decorated at the end" with a cluster of white camellias and a white ribbon bow. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Canon T. L. Fancourt and the wedding music was played by Mr. Edgar Randall. The bride, who entered the church with her brother, Mr. 1. C. Horton, wore a beautiful frock of magnolia angelskin brocaded with gold thread in a lily design. Cut on slender, graceful lines, it was deeply cowled, at the low neckline in front and was made with long, close-fitting sleeves carried well over the hands, where they flared in the form of a lily. The skirt, which was moulded over the hip-line, fell in soft folds below the knees and flared at the back into a beautifully shaped peacock train. A circlet of orange blossoms worn well back on the head held in place the full tulle veil, and she carried a shower bouquet of white roses, white cyclamen and snowflakes. A charming contrast in colour was made by the picturesque poinsettia red frocks worn by the three bridesmaids, Miss Jocelyn Bloomfield, cousin of the bride, Miss Cecily Russell and Miss Jeanett-e Dunlop (Gisborne). Composed of panne velvet, they were made with square-cut necks, very full sleeves cut in one with tho neckline and ending just above the elbows, and skirts inset with a panel in the front. Shirring on each side of the close-fitting bodices and quilting at the hip-line and hem of the skirts made a most attractive finish to the frocks. On their heads they wore haloes of golden-toned freesias and they carried shower bouquets of daffodils and freesias. Tint best man was Mr. Norman Loisel, of Gisborne, and the groomsmen Mr. A. Whitcombe and Mr. Paterson Eliot. Acting as ushers were Mr. Garth Griffiths, Mr. MacMillan Bull, Mr. Peter Nathan, Mr. W. McKail Geddes, Mr. Bruce Eliot and 6 Dr. Hugh Kirker.
