FEELING OF UNCERTAINTY MR. FORBES' IMPRESSIONS "There is a feeling of uncertainty abroad," said the lit. Hon. G. \V. Forbes. Leader of the Opposition, in an interview last evening before his departure from Auckland. "During the two days 1 spent in Auckland many business men expressed to me the opinion that they did not know how things would ultimately turn out." The conditions under which the average employer had to conduct his business encouraged the feeling of uncertainty, said Mr. Forbes, and many felt they would be "thrown out of their stride," with the extra charges to be imposed upon them. "They seemed down-hearted," he stated, "for they felt that having got out of the depression, having made up some lee-way, they looked forward to a period of better times, instead of being loaded with extra expense as seems inevitable. Altogether, the position is very unsatisfactory."
Mr. Forbes said he and his supporters were making the best fight they could 111 the circumstances. They felt encouraged to carry oa.
