CHRYSANTHEMUM SOCIETY
An address on the propagation of chrysanthemums and the preparation of the soil for beds was given by Mr. R. Bovne at the monthly meeting of the Auckland Chrysanthemum and Dahlia Society in the St. Mary's Hall, Parnell, ou Wednesday night. Mr. A. Garside presided over a large attendance of members. Appreciation of the work done for the society by Mr. C. P. Worley, a previous president, who was elected a life member, was expressed by the patron, Sir Joseph Smith. Mr. Garside and Mr. R. Bo.vne also spoke. The winners of the monthly competition for the Patron's Shield, which was conducted for the first time on Wednesday night, were Messrs. R. and L. Lyons, who exhibited three Protea Neriifolia. The competition is open for exhibits of throe flowers of any one variety and will be repeated at each meeting of the society.
