The eighth winter show at To Kuiti was opened by the Minister of Labour, the Hon. H. T. Armstrong, this afternoon. Large crowds attended the opening and tho evening session of the show.
Entries this year have been very good in practically all sections. Thero is a good selection of root crops and vegetables. Tho Sutton Cup for tho best swedo was won by W. Douglas, of Mangapehi, and the district root competition for tho Holah and Hodley Cup by the Maraetaua Road settlors. The Douglas and Hughes Cup for points in field roots was won by Tappin Brothers.
Considerable interest was taken in the , district court competition for tho Sparks Shield, which was won by tho Hangatiki-Waitomo court with 451 points. Bangitoto secured 412 points.
