VALUES AT PUKEKOHE [from ouk own correspondent] PUKEKOHE, Thursday Crttle were penned in well up to average numbers at the stock sale held at Pnkekohe to-day by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited. There was a heavy yarding of dairy cattle, for which values were easier than at last month's sales. Beef was in keen demand and values showed a marked increase. Store and boner cattle were well up to late rates. Cows, as advertised, from Mr. Robt. Bull, Pnkekawa, averaged CS 2s fid. DAIRY CATTLE SOUGHT The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, reports having held a clearing sale on Wednesday in conjunction with Balgety and Company, Limited, on account of Mr. Norman Dey, of Tatuanui. His complete, herd of approximately 85 Jersey and Jersey-cross dairy cows was ofTered before a very large attendance of buyers from all parts of the district. The herd came forward in good condition, and values generally were in excess of expectations Later calvers and older cows also met with a ready sale, values being in advance of recent clearing sales. The herd of sound cows averaged the outstanding price of £9 10s. Top prices of £lB 10s ard £lB 5s were paid by Mr. P. Brewin, of Kiwitahi, and Mr. R. J. Shaw, of Paterangi, respectively, for cattle of outstanding quality and merit. Dalgety and Company, Limited, reports having held its usual fortnightly sale at Matamata on Wednesday. There was a medium yarding of cattle, and a total clearance vas effected under spirited competition, and a good sale resulted. Cattle: Good quality young fat Jersey cows, £5 to £5 7s Gd; light fit Ayrshire heifers, £5 to £5 ss; killable, cows, £4 10s to £5; fresh-conditioned Jersey cows, £4 to £4 10s; store Jersey cows, £3 to £1; boner cows, 30s to £2; run cows, £4 to £5: bulls, £3 to £4; empty two-year Jersey heifers, £2 15s to £3; sound young cows, £2 10s to £3; good quality yearling Jersey heifers, fawns, £3 15s; yearling Jersey heifers, light-conditioned, £2 to £2 6s; small, 20s to 38s; yearling Shorthorn heifer calves, £2 Is to £2 4s; Ayrshire steer calves, 295. Pigs: There was only a small yarding of pigs of all classes. Porkers sold under keen competition, while stores and weaners maintained late quotations. Breeding sows met a moderate demand. Tho North Auckland Farmers' Co-opera-tive, Limited, held a pedigree Jersey female sale at Kamo yesterday, when the whole lot with the exception of five changed hands, although the attendance was small. The top price of IBgns was received by Mr. \V. J. Johnson, of Kamo, for Seafield Fairymaid, the purchaser being Sir. \V. O. Gubb, of Wcllsford. Tho next best. Ki'/jgns, was also realised for Seafield Duff's Dove, bought by Mr. L. P. Ford, of Whangarei. Tb'e company also re[»ort.« holding one of the best-attended clearing sales held in the district for some time on Tuesday on account of Messrs. Cork Bros., of Tikipunga. Bidding was very brisk throughout, draught horses in particular being in strong demand. 'J he top price was paid for an aged gelding at £li3. Three other draughts made from £-18 to ioii. A line of JlO ewes made libs (id; twotooth wethers, 2*is; two-iooth ewes, 345. Tho dairy cows, Jersey and Jersey-cross, sold exctj tionally well.
