OVERLOADED LORRIES
MILL OWNER CONVICTED
REFUSAL TO REDUCE ALLEGED

Fines of £5 and costs on each of two charges for the overloading of timber lorries were inflicted in the Potfbrua Magistrate's Court by Mr. S. L. Patersrin, S.M., this morning when a mill owner, Mahomed Khan, was prosecuted by Mr. D. M. Ford, main highway inspector, for permitting two lorries to be operated on the Taupo highway in excess of their licensed loads.
" This man has given considerable trouble and refuses to reduce his loads. It is difficult to know what to do with him," commented Mr. Ford. , " He is a persistent offender, is lie?" questioned the magistrate when impos- ' ing the penalties.
