ARRIVAL AT GENEVA NEW APPEAL TO THE LEAGUE # » (Received June 28, 6.35 p.m.) LONDON, June 27 Large crowds welcomed the Emperor of Abyssinia at Geneva, shouting " Long live the Emperor " and "Long live Ethiopia." A few Ethiopian officials met Haili Selassie, who waH accompanied by Pas Nasibu. It is understood that the Emperor will not address the League, and that the Abyssinian delegation will be headed by Has Nasibu, assisted by Professor Jeze, the French adviser for Abyssinia.
When the Council met at 4 p.m. it was expected that the proceedings would be short, and an adjournment was made at 5 p.m. Formal conversations will be continued in private until the League Assembly meets on June 30.
It is expected in Paris that the presence of the Emperor will influence the delegates to the Assembly, and that they will confine themselves to appointing a commission to report in September. The Emperor has sent a Note to the League declaring that the provisional Government in Western Abyssinia is the only legitimate Government in the country. He asks the League to supply it with a loan for the purchase of munitions and reiterates Abyssinia's right to liberty and independence. POLAND LIFTS SANCTIONS (Received June 28, 0.35 p.m.) WARSAW. June '27 The Polish Cabinet has ordered the raising of sanctions against Italy.
