GYMKHANA AT PAEROA
SUCCESSFUL WEEK END
[BY TELEGRAPH' —OWN CORRESPONDENT] PAEROA, Saturday Tho last day of tho Paoroa hunt week was held to-day when tho followers met at tho Royal Mail Hotel, where Mr. and Mrs Charles Pelley entertained tho members to morning tea. Tho pack proceeded to the Pa or on Racecourse, where a gymkhana was held during tho afternoon. Several hundred people wore ptesent and wcro entertained c \vith an interesting and varied programme, tho most spectacular event being a drag hunt over tho steeplechaso course. Over 30 riders completed the course and there were several falls, although none was injured. Results were:—
Cigaretto Race.—W. A. Colo, l; Miss N. Gibson, 2. Hunting Competition, one round of steeplechase courso.—V. Young's Rolls of Row, l; VV. A. Colo's Twinkle, 2; T. Scott's King Tim and J. Wilson's D'Artagnan (dead-heat), 3. Bending Competition.—R. Walker, 1; T Lawson, '2.
Ladies' Half-mile Dash.—Mrs. liateman, on l)oouo, 1; Mrs. Marshall, on D'Artagnan, 2; Mrs. Bailey, on Momonatutui, 3. Dual Jumping.—.Mrs. M. Bailey, on King Cole, and Mr. W. Marshall, on Well Away. Gretna Green Competition.—W. A. Cole and Mrs. Bailey, .1; ,T. Wilson and Mrs. W Lawson, 2; Mr. Irwin and Mrs. Irwin, 3. Bun Race.—lt. Wayne, 1; R. Henry, 2. Musical Chairs.—Brian Wiggins, 1; W. Lawson. 2. After the events the master, Mr. J. 1). Fagan, presented tho prizes won during the afternoon.
Tho gathering concluded with ufternoon tea and farowell speeches at tho homo of Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Fathers. A hunt ball was held last evening.
