AUSTRALIAN TURF

OMAREBE IMPRESSIVE

HOLLOW WIN AT RANDWICK

A.J.C. HURDLES TO SLY LAD

(Roceived Juno 28, 0.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, Juno 28

The Australian Jockey Club's Winter Meeting opened on Saturday in fine weather, with an attendance of 23,000. The reintroduction of racing for amateur riders at Randwick was a success. Half-a-dozen horses were abreast in the Amateur Cup race 50 yards from the post. Mr. R. J. Murphy's colt Omarore won the First Nursery Handicap in convincing fashion. He quickly went to the front and, nicely handled by M. McCarton, he won very easily. Omarere shows signs of developing into a highclass galloper, who may carry Cuddle's colours with distinction.

A promising jumper, The Black Cat, winner of the Brush Hurdles at Canterbury Park on June 20, ended his racing career in the Trial Hurdles when he tripped at a jump and broke his neck. The rider was not injured. The A.J.C. Derby winner of 1934, Theo, was given a race as a test in the June Stakes, but he pulled up very lame. It is possible the racing career of this Kood horse also has ended. Results:
