CLEAR-CUT VICTORY
POINTS TO METRO-COLLEGE Metro-College secured a well-earned victory over North Shore in the match at Western Springs. The ground conditions wero good, allowing the players to exploit fast and open methods. Metro-College held a firm grip on the exchanges throughout the match. North Shore being lorced into a defensive role for tho greater part of the time. Metro-College led by two goals to nil at half-time, and in tho second spell it had N9r1.11 Shore penned up. The latter was seen in offensivo movements on a few occasions only. A very safe exhibition was given by Gavin in the Metro-College goal, but a number of his clearing kicks were weak and put his defence in trouble. Holman and Speed were dependable at fullback, although the latter was inclined to try and do 100 much. Fino judgment, was shown by Cronin. tho .MetroCollege centre-half, who was a decided force both on defence and attack. Several of his long-range shots r.arrowly missed the goal. Metro-College had a dangerous left wing, whero P. Holman, C. Flyger and A. Flyger showed speed and accurate footwork. Good supporting work was done by Jones, Burton and McCallum. Cleal gave a greatly-improved display at ecntrev-forward, the outstanding feature of his exhibition being his lino positional play. Cameron was inclined to be spectacular in the North Shore goal, and he was lucky with some of his clearances. Gerrard anil West were very souud, but they wero fully occupied in their efforts to hold the fast opposing forward line. C. Walters, at centre-half, was very sure in his passing and tackled determinedly. In a mediocre forward line, H. Walters, a third grade player, gave the best display. Stevenson was not suited to the centre-forward position. Cleal (2), McCallum, A. Flyger and P. Holman scored for the winners, while Stevenson netted North Shore's goal. Mr. A. Firth was referee.
