TREES IN STREETS
Sir, —On seeing locally a picture showing "Cherry Blossom Time in Japan," the thought occurred to me why should wo not, in Auckland, have the same beautiful showing in our streets? What is to prevent it? Now is plant, ing time. Why should we with our fav, ourable climate be hidebound and persist in copying and planting trees mora suitable to European countries? Would it not bo an additional attraction to visitors and an increase in revenue to the City if our streets wero made go beautiful? The only objection I can see is that our Old Country gardeners are against it. Perhaps the Horticultural Society may be able to have something done. G.
