TRANSPORT EXPENDITURE
£12,000,000 THIS YEAR
SOUTH AFRICAN PROPOSALS [from our own correspondent] CAPETOWN, Juno 2 More than £5,000,000 will bo spent in South Africa during tho current financial year on railways and harbours capital and betterment works. There will also be an estimated expenditure of £7,2-11,402 out of renewals fund, bringing the gross total of expenditure on transport in South Africa to over £12,000,000.
The items include improvements to harbours, new rolling stock, reconstruction and shortening of permanent ways, safety measures at level crossings, pre-cooling stores, airways workshops and emergency landing grounds.
