COLLAPSE OF STAND
GUESTS THROWN TO GROUND NO CASE OF SERIOUS INJURY [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] NEW PLYMOUTH, Sunday When a hardwood stand, one of many erected temporarily to accommodate official guests at the Sir Maui Pomare memorial celebrations at Manukorihi Pa on Saturday, collapsed during the proceedings. More than 150 people were precipitated in a mass six feet to the ground. Many received extensive bruises and abrasions, but no case of serious injury was reported. Later the ends of the same stand collapsed and 50 more were thrown down, including a number of press photographers, who had been allotted the position by the marao committee. Again 110 one \/as injured seriously. Another stand developed a weakness, and the occupants were moved.
