ATTACK BY NATIVES
AUSTRALIAN EXPEDITION SEARCH FOR LASSETER'S REEF SYDNEY, June 18 A message from Alice Springs, Northern Territory, says the Cutlack air expedition which is searching for Lasseter's reef was attacked by aborigines at Mount Burley, nine miles from Lasseter's grave. Ono of tho aeroplane parties had built a rude shelter and was awaiting the arrival of the ground party when natives appeared and threw spenrs. Tho members of tho expedition opened firo with revolvers, but two more attacks wero made, and finally tho natives were repulsed. During one sortie a member of tho expedition narrowly escaped being clubbed. Tho expedition, which is led by Air. Morlev Cutlack, loft Broken Hill on June 8 for a landing place near Oodnadntta. Tho flying party consists of Mr. Cutlack. a geologist, and two pilots. Messrs. P. Hall and R. G. Godsell. lho aeroplanes being used aro a Percival Gull and a Puss Moth.
