MR. 0. N. F'RTH [BY TKr.ECRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] NEW PLYMOUTH. Thursday Tho dontli has occurred nt New Plymouth of Mr. 0. N. Firth, after long illness. Mr. Firth, who was 67, camo from Wanganui to New Plymouth and became manager of tho Westport Coal Company's business, retiring n few years ago. Mr. Firth was always a keen sportsman with both rod and p;mt. For very many years he was n prominent bowler, and l°ng time was secretary of the Taranaki Bowling Centre. MRS. A. M. NOLAN OARR The death Was occurred in Auckland of Mrs. Ada Mary Nolan Carr, F.R.G.S., widow of the late Mr. Richard Anthony Carr and eldest daughter of the late Mr. T. B. Russell. Slio was born in Auckland 74 years ago. Always interested in any progressive movement, Mrs. Carr was one of the founders of the Auckland Ladies' Golf Club when it was formed in Market Road, hpsom, and was a. past president. She was also one of the original members of the Victoria League. She travelled extensively. During the war she showed great kindness to many New Zealand wounded soldiers nt Wnlton-on-Thames, where she was living at the time. On returning to New Zealand after the armistice she gave Marivare Reserve to the citizens of Auckland as a. war memorial to the Epsom soldiers who had lost their live.*. Mrs. Carr was a gifted water colour artist and held several successful exhibitions of her work in London, the proceeds of which were donated to St. Dunstan's Hospital for the blind, or to Dr. Barnardo's Homes. Ten years ago she was appointed a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. She is survived by ' two sons. Mr. S. Austin Carr and Mr. T. Anthony Carr, and one daughter, Mrs. Paul Cropper, all of Auckland. There are nine grandchildren.
