HARBOUR BRIDGE SCHEME

MR. W. J. LYON'S ATTITUDE ADDRESS AT TAKAPUNA A statement that his policy with regard to a harbour bridgo was to attempt in tho first place to induce tho Government to undertake tho work was made by Mr. W. J. Lyon, M.P. for Waitemata, in an address given in tho parish hall, Takapuna, last night. The deputy-mayor of Takapuna, Mr. W. White, presided. A telegram which he had recently received from the Prime Minister bore witness to this, said Mr. Lyon. If, however, Government help was not forthcoming, he was then in favour of having tho bridge built by a private company. To statements that ho was interested in "the ferry business he issued an emphatic denial. Mr. Lyon also touched upon the legislation carried out by tho Government and legislation which was yet to bo introduced. He explained tho Reservo Bank Amendment Act and reviewed the efforts made by tho Government to reduce unemployment. Ho also spoke on the aims and application of tho Fair Rents Bill.
