LIGHTING AT DEVONPORT

JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS Proposals for decorative illumination of the Devonport Borough at its forthcoming jubilee celebrations were discussed at a meeting of the council last night. It was generally agreed that coloured lights should bo placed on the waterfront and some brighter form of lighting near the municipal buildings. "Some striking electric sign," said Mr. E. Aldridge, "near the top of Mt. Victoria would also make a good display." It was decided to writo to tho Waitemata Power Board in connection with the matter. A decision was reached to accept an offer by the Waitemata Power Board to light portion of the main highway from Fleet Street to Lake Road with 100-watt sodium lamps, at an extra annual cost of £59 10s.
