COUNTRY CONTESTS ■ I MATCHES AT HELENSVILLE DEFEAT OF KAUKAPAKAPA The following additional results of Rugby competitions played in country centres of the Auckland Province on Saturday have been forwarded by correspondents of tho Herald: — f Helensville.—ln the first came in "tho Becond round of tho Kaipara Rugby Union's points competition Helensville defeated Kaukapakapa by 9 points to G. The match was interesting, but was marred by poor handline. With the scoro at 9—3 against it, Ivauknpakapa mado several determined rushes, but could only score a penalty goal (T. Smith). Tries were scored for Helensvilla by Moore and Connolly, while Gray kicked a penalty goal, fiapson scored for Kaukapakapa and Smith kicked a penalty goal. At Silverdale Parakai defeated the home side by 25 points to 13. Tho game was even until near the finish when Silverdale failed to stem several Parakai attacks. Junior grade results were:—Parakai, 25, Helensville, 6; Woodliill, 24, Kaukapakapa, 0. Otamatea.—Senior Grade* Maungaturoto, IG, l2; Waipu, '6, Matakohe, 0; United, 3, Kaiwaka, 3; Mangawai, 15, Batley, 8. Opotlki. Considerable interest was aroused in Saturday's senior championship match between City and Maori Players. The game was very close and hard, and the result vas in doubt right to the finish. Tho game was hard-fought from start to finish, the Ruatoki backs combining brilliantly in clever passing movements. B. McGarvey, on the wing, scored a brilliant try, taking the ball from half-way to outpace the opposition and score between the postß. J. Broderick, the Maori All Black, also scored a clever try for Ruatoki, and J. Biddle kicked two penalty goals. Poroporo, 19, beat Paroa,-5: City, 18, beat Taneatua, 3. Rangitaikl.—The Duff Cup competition having been previously completed, the club fixtures were continued on Saturday.
