(Received June 12, 10.16 p.m.) SYDNEY, June 12
Negotiations are well under way to develop tho iron ore deposits of Yampi Sound, North-West Australia. Leases have been acquired by H. A. Brassert and Company, Limited, a British company of consulting engineers, whose representative, Mr. T. V. Salt, has arrived in Sydney by the liner Mooltan en route to Japan. Mr. Salt estimates that the output will be more than 500,000 tons of iron ore annually. The main buyer in Japan, ho said, was his company, which was dealing with very responsible and important interests in that country.
Employment would be given to a large number of Australians. Tho venture had the approval and co-operation of the Commonwealth and Western Australian Governments.
The Japanese control iron mining in Malaya, and since 1921 9,000,000 tons of iron ore have been exported to Japan. The latest extension was an option over the Perak property, valued at 1,500,000 dollars and estimated to hold 7,000,000 tons of ore.
