TO-DAY'S PROGRAMME SAPLING STAKES CONTEST REVIEW OF THE PROSPECTS The richly-endowed Now Zealand Sapling Stakes will lie the chief event ol the Ashburton Trotting Club's A\ inter Meeting to-day, while good fields have accepted for all the handicap races. The course should provide firm looting and betting will be under the win and place system. TE AKOIIA SIRES KING LU AND MUSKETOON The thoroughbred stallions King Lu and Muskotoon will again be at the service ot breeders during the current season. King Lu is by Lucullus from Shower Gold, a half-sister to General Latour, by Marble Arch from Merry Nil (ini]3.), by Merry Hampton. He was a highly-successful racehorse in his day, and won a large number of races under heavy weights. Practically all King liii's progeny have been winners, and they include such performers as Kino Win, Royal Secret, Queen Nona. King Mestor, Keith Lu, Prince Ven and King Brierly. King Win and King Mestor, the only two who have raced over fences to date, have been successful.

Musketoon is an imported horse by Ktedfast from Musk, by Mvram, from Z;ira by Soliman, son of St. Simon. There is groat staying blood in (Ids pedigree, as is exemplified by tin* performances of Master Brierly, who won the A..T.C. Plate and Cinnberland Plate, and was one of the host, stayers in Australia last season. Musketoon was a nirelior.se of class, and won the Takapima Clip, Cornwall Handicap and King Kdward Memorial Handicap.
