ACCIDENT VICTIM
INSPECTOR GOOCH KILLED Terror of smash-and-grab raiders, ex-Chief-Inspector Daniel Gooch, chief of Scotland Yard Flying Squad until he retired last December, died recently in Surrey County Hospital, Guildford, states the London Sunday Graphic. Injuries received in a triple road crash on the by-pass over the Hog's Back were th& cause. He was one of six London people, including his wife, their son and daughter, involved, and was the only one seriously injured. So, by an ironical twist of fate, the man who had led Scotland Yard's highspeed squad unscathed through many a thrilling chase, on a private motoring trip as a private individual has himself paid the toll of the road.
