Hardy Cyclamens
For Spring Flowering,
For something out of tho ordinary, hardy cyclamens should bo given a trial. C. coum, crimson; 0. ropandum, crimson with marbled foliage, and its white form ropandum album; and tho mixed strain, 0. Atkinsi, are tho best of the spring flowering varieties. Very shallow planting is required, and it is advisable to work in some old mortar rubble and leafsoil. Shade is a first requirement, aud they will thrive well at the base of walls or any such spot Tho dog's tooth violets are also shade lovers, but prefer fairly deep planting; four to six inches is not too much. Peat and road grit should bo worked into tho soil for these.
