POLICE CHIEF'S LAPSE
After serving nearly 25 years in the Stoke-on-Trent police force. ChiefInspector George llye has been reduced to the rank of sergeant. He was accused of " conduct likely to bring discredit on the reputation of the force or of the police service." Ho would have qualified for retirement on pension in a few month's time.
