The girls' commi'tteo of the Victoria League held their monthly bridge party at the Evelyn Firth Home yesterday afternoon. Among those present were: Mrs. L. S. Rickerby, Mrs. G. Erne Adams, Misses W. Kent, B. Stedman, M. Dryden. Prizes wero won by Mr. W. Gordon and Mr. W. Chancy.

There was a large attendance of members and friends at tho weekly meeting of tho Mothers' Club of tho Y.W.C.A., over which Mrs. Hynes presided. It was stated that the recent socials arid concerts had added substantially to tho club's funds for renovations. An address was given by "Uncle Tom," and later tea was handed round.

The following officers were elected at the annual meeting of tho Opotiki Hospital Sunshine League: President, Mrs. C. Gordon: vice-presidents, Mesdames Hird, Morice, Grant, Quirk, C. Clark, and Miss Budd; secretary, Mrs. C. H. Fleming; treasurer, Mrs. J. R. Sinclair; auditor, Mr. T. H. Pearson. Mrs. J. Wilson was appointed superintendent of hospital visitation and Mrs. Steele to take charge of the books and magazines for the hospital. The president's annual report showed that invaluablo work had been rendered • during tho year, as, apart from hospital assistance, the league had built a dwelling for an invalid Maori who had been living practically in the open. The hospital matron, Miss McLean, on behalf of the staff and patients, thanked tho league for its work during the year.
