AMERICAN CONSUL
NEW APPOINTMENT
OFFICER NOW AT KARACHI SUCCESSOR TO MR. W. F. BOYLE Cable advice of the appointment of Mr. Joseph G. Groeninger, now stationed at Karachi, India, to tho office of American Consul at Auckland has been received by the present consul, Mr. Walter F. Boyle. Mr. Groeninger, who will proceed to his new post as soon as possible, comes from the State of Maryland. He entered the United States foreign service in 1911 as vice-consul at Copenhagen, since when he has served in Berlin, Estonia, Rotterdam, Java and Karachi, where ho has been for the last five Years.
Mr. Boylo is unaware to which post he will bo transferred, but he is due for a long leave of absence, which he intends to spend in America before taking up new duties. Ho came to Auckland in May, 1925, after holding several positions as consul in the Mexican desert, and succeeded Mr. Karl de G. MacVitty. One of his first duties was to receive the American Fleet on its arrival.
Mr. Boylo has been a popular Dean of tho Consular Corps, members of which regard him as an ideal head.
