PAKURANGA HUNT
MEET AT HOWICK Splendid hunting, with some particularly good rune, was enjoyed by followers of the Pakurßnga Hunt yesterday. The weather * was beautifully fine and. in spite of the hard ground and conditions not conducive to strong scents, the hounds provided a good day's sport. The hunt met at the Howick school, and the first hare was put up on the side of the road near the property of Mr. I>. Andrew. It crossed country intoi Mr. J. Nicholson's, thence to Mr. J. T. Shaw's paddock near the Howick school. It then led the hounds into Mr. C. Page's prop- ■" erty and a kill was in a patch of gorse. A strong hare was put up in Mr. J. Wilson's naddock and it took tne hunt along Botany Road, and, after crosning Mr. J. Bradbury's, went into the hills near Pakuranga; along the ridge, and then down into Mr Hathaway'a place, where a kill was made after an exceptionally good run. The hunt next moved across Mr. Hathaway's property, where another hare was put up. It crossed the stream and went into barred country. The. hounds, however, hunted it out and the chase proceeded into Mr. A. Bradbury's, and. after making a wide circle, the third kill of the day was made. Another hare was put up on Mr. J. Wilson's property and it led the hounds on to Mr. H. Andrew's place, where there was some splendid jumping over hedges.
