WESTFIELI) QUOTATIONS AN EASING IN VALUES STORE RATES MAINTAINED Top values for dairy cattle eased considerably yesterday at the "\Vestfield weekly stock sale. Prices for quality stock failed to reach the high levels of previous weeks, the larger yarding being in some measure responsible. This factor, and the fact that pasture growth has fallen off considerably, resulted in competition being less keen. Buyers did not translate their demand for good cattle into bids after certain values were reached and a fail* number of lines were passed in. Average values also receded a. shade. The top price was £8 12s Gd for recently-calved Jersey cows. Rolsleiu-cross cows and heifers sold up to £8 5s lor stock in a forward condition. Backward lines were hard to dispose of.
